The Millionaire Next Door Post #3: The Surprising Truth About Making Your Children Rich

One might think that to make your children rich you should give them money, but once again, this would be completely wrong. The Millionaire Next Door by: Thomas J.Stanley, and William D. Danko highlights 5 guidelines to producing wealthy children, and they may not be what you think...

•1. Never tell children their parents are wealthy. (disk 3, part 2)

Those who grew up in a high-consumption lifestyle tend to live a high-consumption lifestyle as an adult, hence accumulating less wealth

•2. No matter how wealthy you are, teach your children discipline and frugality.

(disk 3, part 5)

The best accumulators of wealth are good role models in frugality. They teach their children to save money and live below their means from a young age.

•3. Assure that your children wont realize youre affluent until after they have established a mature, disciplined, and adult lifestyle and profession. (disk 3, part 9)

The best accumulators of wealth set up trust funds for their kids but the plan does not distribute money to their kids until they are the age of 40.

•4. Minimize discussions of the items that each child and grandchild will inherit or receive as gifts. (disk 3, part 12)

Discussing money or inheritance a child will receive later can create an attitude of dependence and be cause for less accumulation of wealth

•5. Never give cash or other significant gifts to your adult children as part of a negotiation strategy. (disk 3, part 16)

Give because of love and kindness. Adult children lose their respect for their parents resort to barging tactics involving money.

George is my role model for discipline and frugality (bullet point #2)

I plan to follow most of these guidelines as a parent in order to give my children the best chance I can for them to become wealthy when they reach adulthood. I might not follow all of the guidelines listed above, but I will certainly do my best to give my children a good basis of financial habits. I do not my future children to struggle to keep wealth as an adult so teaching them important lessons as a child will be a priority.

The One About Everlasting Sisterly Love

Dear friends,

I will tell you today the story about a sisters true love. As I was browsing casually the Tumblr account I bumped into this lovely short and real story and I imediately wanted to share it with you as I found it very warm and touching - especially that I have a sister :)

Caroline Walter and her beloved older sister Selma moved to Freiburg to live with their grandmother after their parents died. She went to a school for young ladies and by the time she reached the age of 16, she already had a number of admirers who were attracted by her young beauty. When her sister married, Caroline happily went to live with her and her new husband. In the early summer of 1867, just before she turned 17, Caroline contracted tuberculosis and passed away a few short weeks later.

Her sister Selma wanted to create a lasting memorial and asked a sculptor to cast a grave in her sister’s likeness. The life size and life like sculpture depicts Caroline just as if she fell asleep reading in her own bed. The grave was placed against one of the outer walls of the Alter Friedhof cemetery which had already been in existence for more than 200 years. It was a peaceful setting, made more peaceful by the beautiful grave of the sleeping girl.

It was soon after Caroline passed away, and the flowers on her grave from the funeral were wilting, that her sister began to notice that a fresh flower was always on the grave when she visited. Months and then years passed and still no one had discovered who might be leaving the flowers. The cemetery groundskeepers could provide no clue but perhaps they were sworn to secrecy.

The inscription at the foot of Caroline Walters grave says that this memorial was given by her sister Selma with love and that her separation from her loved ones was determined by Gods counsel.

I believe that what her sister done was a proof of true love. I believe that Selma loved Caroline so much she wanted to give her one last gift, an everlasting gift that would show the world her love. I was looking at the sculpture and you can see how detailed it is and the smile Selma put on Carolines lips is beautiful and sad at the same time. I believe Selma must have spent hours with her sister, who loved to read - maybe she even read to her! - and maybe during that time she might have even sketched Caroline, for fun. She could not have known that those sketches would be used later on, to make the final resting place for her sister. I believe it is wonderful that even after 147 years her grave still has fresh flowers everyday. It is just as if she would have an everlasting admirer :) That is very romantic, dont you think?

Elections Belong To The People

Dear friends,

I choose to start this letter/post/entry with a quote from one of the fathers of the United States of America. Lincoln was a champion of human liberty and I believe he had a deep respect for the people who brought him to the White House, his goal being reuniting the people/the nation. He helped abolish slavery and I truly believe that he did care for the people. Maybe that is why the Americans see him still as one of the top 3 presidents of the USA.

Romania is facing presidential elections. The election will be held in two rounds, on 2 and 16 November, as decided by the government in February. Right now we still have as president Traian Basescu. The last presidential election was held in 2009 and he was sworn in for his second term on 21 December 2009. He is ineligible for a third term according to the Constitution. There are only 9 days left until the campaign stops. On the 2nd of November, between 7 a.m.–9 p.m., the first round of the presidential election is scheduled to be held. Over 18.3 million people in the country and 530,000 Romanians abroad are expected to go to the polls - that means me as well...

A few weeks back one of my Romanian expat friends, living here in Krakow, told me that for the first time there will be a chance to actually vote in Krakow and not go all the way up to Warsaw. The Romanian Embassy and Consulate is in Warsaw, on Chopin street, and I am very familiar with it as I needed to do all the paper for the marriage there + my new passport. I was thinking that is quite a road and I was not sure if I could make it, but now I am 100% sure that on the 2nd of November I will be saying #yeslavot - that is a small wordplay :) Romanian lads/lasses will get it for sure :)

As you know, every election is determined by the people who show up. We somehow have a thing about not attending meetings/gatherings and then complaining about the decisions made while we were not there. Well, the simple act of coming to the vote means a whole lot. You may not like any of the people on the list, you may not know them well or even heard of them, you may believe they are lunatic and they should not even be public. That does not matter! What matters is that you can choose - even if that means choosing the lesser evil. Is it better that the worst evil would win if you will not participate? If more people would actually come to the vote and choose the lesser evil maybe the world would be a bit better. We all know that votes can be manipulated and your vote can be used by a different person - been there, seen that happening in my country and its no news! Is it not better just to go there for 15 minutes, maybe just have a long walk in the city and do a good deed? Your inner self will thank you and you will feel at peace with doing your moral and civil duty. Worst case scenario: you can always reject the vote and stamp your way through that paper, as long as you use your ID/passport and vote! So... Remember, remember the 2nd of November :) Be there or be square!

Sketching the Neck

I have been drawing since I was in 5th grade--perhaps longer. Since then, art has became my passion and I cannot go through a day without doodling something. Course of the years, I was not exactly into illustrating realism art, and personally, it is difficult for myself to draw it.

So instead, I began drawing, Anime

(A style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well children.)

These are primarily the tools I use to illustrate my art.

- Plain notebook

- Wooden Pencil / Mechanical Pencil

- Eraser

I first discovered anime when I was younger, and I was infatuated by its artistry--so when I began drawing Anime, it was at a pretty moderate level for me, I did not have to be too precise on the body structure. I just needed to make sure it looked like a human. I did have some difficulties into drawing of the human anatomy (I am still in the process of trying to educate myself more on the human anatomy)

Ive purchased this book, "Drawing People for the Absolute Beginner."

This book came in with numerous instruction on how to draw the human structures and included some tips / advices on what kind of instrument of tools you should use to draw for your ability.

I skimmed through the book, and found a page that I really needed.

"Female Head, Neck, and Shoulder.". I have a difficult time in drawing the neck--it would come off too skinny, board, and et cetera.

I began quickly sketching my character--but only illustrating the head and the hair.

Then I estimated how wide I want to portray the neck.

(But some-what skinny, since I am drawing a female. Not a male.)

"Shape the Hair, Neck, and Shoulders.

Sketch the shape of the hair and define the form of the neck and shoulders." -- pg 45

I followed the instruction and softly outline where I believe the collarbone is and sketch where the females neck is in cave slightly in the center of it.

This is where I add more details into the neck, so it is more definite. I have included a small shadow underneath its neck--to make the head look more outward, not glued to her throat. It was kind of a struggle lightly shadowing the neck, because you need to make sure it is visibly there, but simultaneously try not make it too depth.

I liked how the drawing turned out.

The sketch took some time, but it was fun drawing! Because I was able to increase my ability in drawing the "neck". I was able to add more details into the neck. Even though the book was mainly aimed at realistic drawings, but it did in fact, help me stricture the neck and add more depth into it.

Remembering The Last Sunday Of March 2014

Dear friends,

I ask of you, what best way to spend a Sunday out than with friends? Especially if the weather is warm, the sun is shining and the trees are in bloom! The last Sunday of this lovely past March we had amazing weather after a up-down rainy-cold-warm-again rainy scalding temperature during the rest of the month. I really felt Spring kicking in! And as the weather was like that and as we did not meet some of our friends for a long while we agreed on a lovely walk :)

We had a short pit-stop to our favourite place - Bona - Kziazka i kawa - and we introduced them into the lovely chilling place that we frequently enjoy. We had lemonades, coffee, frappe and icecream and we enjoyed sitting out in the terrace in the street and watching the people pass by. It is my favourite place in town and I think I said that a million times before but I will say it a million more :) It was the first time this year they had the tables setup outside and I could once again enjoy the view of one of my personal fav churches in town - St. Peter and Paul Church.

Of course we fooled around taking pictures of eachother but you already know what a freak I am when it comes to taking pictures of everything and anything at anytime - you should be happy for that, as in case of amnesia I can have the pictures and movies to help me remember :p

The frappe I had was smooth and not extremely sweet, like some people do it! And it had the perfect ammount of foam and it was bubbly good :) My awesome husband enjoyed his icecream with whipped cream on top and a bed of abundant sour cherries from which I must admit I stole some ;)))

After finishing the treats we headed off to the Vistula - which, by the way, was overflodded with people walking their dogs, riding bikes, taking babies in prams out or just strolling in couples. I cannot remember the last time I saw so many people bustling about! Oh! Wait! I think that was way last year in early autumn!

Then we agreed we should find a boat and have some beer on it as the weather was just fitting. We bumped into a bit of fresh painted street art and we saw loads of bees in the freshly bloomed trees.

Will they hit eachother?! :o Neah :p

We managed to get up to the Lovers Bridge yet we managed to find no free place in any boat. It was packed tight! so we headed back to the Wawel Castle and we had the sheer luck of having a couple just leaving a table so we jumped into the breach :)

We had a lovely day and I must admit I cannot help but smile when I see the trees like that! It just makes me want to hug them or just sit under them while they tell their stories :)

And while going home my awesome husband, who knows I am into street art showed me this adorable cute little bison right next to an entrance door :) I, in return, showed him how lovely the bikes were standing in line next to the Galeria - et voila! that is how the picture above appeared :)

Ford has always been a brand synonymous with good value

The Fiesta has a range of six petrol and three diesel engines to suit a wide variety of demands and budgets, all of which pack a punch and balance great fuel economy with performance. The top choice of engine in my opinion is the 99bhp Eco-boost petrol, which offers a very smooth ride. For sheer economy though its hard to beat the 1.6 diesel which offers a fantastic 86 M.P.G on average but still feels keen.

On the road the Fiesta proves itself to have precise handling on a straight run and also in the corners. Standard equipment is sparse, so it may feel lacking in some of the extra bells and whistles of others in its class. However, all these factors combined with the price tag make it an excellent choice.
